That being said, each piece of nugget ice only contains a very small amount of water. If you would only rely on nugget ice for your daily water intake, you’d have to eat massive amounts of ice each day.

Now I know that the ice chewing fanatics among us might not see the problem with this, but I wouldn’t recommend going on a strict nugget ice diet. 

In 2005, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) had published recommendations that they called adequate intakes (AIs). They include 3.7 liters per day for men, (including about 3 liters in the form of beverages) and 2.7 liters per day for women (including about 2.2 liters in the form of beverages).
